Sending Amber stuff in Cameroon...

Amber is moving to a 3rd world country and you will miss her and want to write her and possibly even send her things. In order to help ensure the likelihood of your letter, birthday card, or package making it to me intact, here are some ‘mailing to Cameroon’ tips:

  • Use red ink to address the mail
  • Adorn packages and envelopes with religious symbols and bible verses. If possible, do this in both English and French.
  • Consider snipping a corner off of envelopes to make it look like somebody already tried to shake all of ‘the good stuff’ out. If any ‘good stuff’ actually is inside, be sure to tape it down!
  • Do not send valuables or money; they will probably not make it to me!

But Amber, if we can’t send you our life savings, what can we send you?

Well, having never actually been to Cameroon, this is the list of things that I assume that I would like to receive:

  • Powdered drink mixes (Kool-aid, Crystal light, Gatorade, etc.) is going to be a big one because I’ll be drinking lots of room temperature water everyday.
  • Powdered pasta sauces
  • Parmesan cheese
  • Pictures of you and other people that I like!!
  • Books
  • Comics that you’ve cut from the newspaper (I like Baby Blues and Get Fuzzy a lot)
  • AA and AAA batteries
  • Aquafresh sensitive toothpaste
  • Cosmo!
  • Gum in blister packs (like eclipse and dentyne)
    --not spearmint
  • Travel tissue packs
  • Silly things :)
  • Holiday items to make me feel less left out
  • Letters, letters, letters!!!
  • Stick deodorant (non smelly)
  • Carmex (the liquid tube dealies…mmmm :))

I will update this after I get to Cameroon if things change! But really, just a letter from you will bring my little heart lots of joy!
